Content:
 Scene 4- King Duncan and his sons discuss the execution of the traitorous Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth is commended by Duncan as is Banquo. Duncan aannounces that his son Malcolm will succeed him . Macbeth is shocked, but invites the king to Glamis to celebrate. Macbeth's soliloquoy. Macbeth sends Lady Macbeth a letter about the witches' prophecy, She fears he is too kind to be king. She quickly comes to the conclusion that Duncan must be murdered. She prays to be made stronger "unsexed". Lady Macbeth greets her husband and advises him to be welcoming to Duncan on the surface, but like a snake underneath.
Goals:
 students will understand that Macbeth is make a decision which challenges his moral code. Lady Macbeth reveals her ambitions for her husband.
Objectives:
 Stdents will respond to the actins of Lady Macbeth
Materials:
 students will view Acts 4 and 5 of the film Macbeth. Television and video.
Introduction:
 Make posters to illustrate related vocabulary words from the list of words having the concepts of requests and demands.
Development:
 Discussion of notes taken during classroom reading of scenes 1-3.

Checking For Understanding:
 Students will answer the following quotes: "That is a step on which I must fall down, or else, o'erleap. For in my way it lies." (Macbeth-p. 29) "Unsex me now," "You are too full of the milk of human kindness" (Lady Macbeth-p.31)
Closure:
 Discussion of meaning of the scene as it relates to previous scenes we have read.
Evaluation:
 Ability to understand quotations from text. HW- Edit sheet Start Outside Reading Project- selection of assignment.
