Goals:
 1.) To teach the students the association of sound with letter (printed symbols). 2.) The student will be able to recognize and produce the sound represented by the symbol when given a printed symbol.
Objectives:
 Lesson 62: Student is asked to say the sound represented by: -ing As in sing. Lesson 63: Student continues to reproduce the sound represented by: ing and previous sounds used. Lesson 64: Student is asked to say the sound represented by: i (iii)As in ice.
Materials:
 Reading Mastery Presentation Book B, Storybook 1, Take Home worksheets 62-64
Introduction:
 Summarize rules:"Sit tall, look at the book, and talk big."
Development:
 Present task until students are firm. Sound introduction
Practice:
 Sound reinforcement with several sounds reviewed and firmed up. Game format: child plays teacher, cross out game, and sound game.*Letters are referred to as sounds (Fast Cycle 1)
Accommodations:
 Direct teaching, repetition of lessons if understanding is not facilitated, and small group.
Checking For Understanding:
 Continuous sound firm up after each task. Teacher cannot move on until students are firm.
Closure:
 Take Home independent exercise, Individual reading check outs, and group/individual storybook reading.
Evaluation:
 Mastery Oral Tests and every 20 Lessons Mastery Tests (80% for mastery of each skill).
