 Fairy Tale vocabulary, skill and strategies for comprehension and fluency vocabulary, creative writing strategies and the writing process - sight words used as well as phonics covered, genres etc
Goals:
 Reading is an important part of every day life to gather information as well as enjoyment. What makes a good reader? Verbal and written communication are essential in our world. Cultural similarities and differences.
Objectives:
 SWBAT read, view, listen to literature for may purposes (skills): similar and different character analyses - hero/heroine/villain (generalizations/inference/observation of character through different medians) conversation, collaboration of stories create a fairy tale using writing and creative strategies and skills covered in the Unit - LAND OF IMAGINATION
Materials:
 LAND OF IMAGINATION UNIT AND MATERIALS, ALL VERSIONS AND MEDIANS THAT CAN BE OBTAINED OF EACH FAIRY TALE STUDIED (PACKET, FOLDER, READING AND VIDEO OBSERVATION LOGS, VIDEO, FILMSTRIP, BOOK SETS, AND ALL LITERATURE PERTINENT TO FAIRY TALES
Introduction:
 WHAT IS A FAIRY TALE? - WEB AND DISCUSSION OF OUR OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE (GOOD READERS AND SKILLS)
Development:
 I will model the thinking processes associated with comprehension, observation and analysis of reading and media forms of the stories through all skills listed and collaboration
Practice:
 worksheets, graphic organizers, reading logs, etc
Accommodations:
 See attached modifications chart
Checking For Understanding:
 Summaries and story comparisons
Closure:
 2 more weeks of a 3 week unit - possibly role playing a created fairy tale - groups - classroom program 1st week of MAY
Evaluation:
 vocabulary usage, TAKS skills used , 80-90 reading fluency rate and comprehension of story
