Objectives: | Students will be able to: Identify the purpose of offense and defense Understand why throwing is important in football Practice proper catching skills learned in class Work together to complete a common goal |
Materials: | Footballs/cones/pennies/score boards |
Introduction: | Warm up with squads Spiral throwing/Catching |
Development: | Throw balls to designated target (have students throw balls/Peer instruction) |
Practice: | Students will line up with their squads If room allows and equipment have students partner with a squad member. Students can also stay in their squad lines and pass the football down the line to other squads (5-6 balls needed) |
Accommodations: | Students who are unable to participate fully in this activity can work in their squad line. Students can use a modified throw or catch depending on their level. A softer ball will appeal to these students. |
Checking For Understanding: | Ask students were they are suppose to hold a football to throw it. Ask student what they have learned. Get feedback from students about their interest level in football, or past history. |
Closure: | Congratulate the students on their succeeds. Excuse class to locker room after explaining tomorrow's lesson will build off of today's. |
