Introduction: | Read book (introduction of subtraction and math). Give prepared worksheet as pretest (un-timed). |
Development: | Use manipulatives to demonstrate addition/subtraction facts. Teach students to use manipulatives to add/subtract numbers on the handouts |
Practice: | Students' understanding of the topic will be tested by using addition/subtraction flash cards to quiz students and to encourage them to answer quickly. Repeat until students answer fluently and accurately. |
Accommodations: | Pick problems from the test and ask students to demonstrate how to do the problem using manipulatives. Give the timed posttest a second time or more if needed to meet 95% level of accuracy. |
Checking For Understanding: | Grade pretest and post test. Compare scores on pretest and first post test. Give post test until 95% level of accuracy is met. |
