Goals:
 Students will be able to complete addition and subtraction problems at an accuracy level of 95% on timed tests.
Objectives:
 Students will complete addition facts 0-6 in 2 minutes at an accuracy level of 95%. Students will complete addition facts 7-10 in 6 minutes at an accuracy level of 95%. Students will complete addition facts 0-10 in 5 minutes at an accuracy level of 95% by. Students will complete subtraction facts 0-6 in 2 minutes at an accuracy level of 95% by. Students will complete subtraction facts 7-10 in 3 minutes at an accuracy level of 95% by. Students will complete subtraction facts 0-10 in 5 minutes at an accuracy level of 95%.
Materials:
 Addition and subtraction fact sheets Timer Pencil math manipulative math related book
Introduction:
 Read book (introduction of subtraction and math). Give prepared worksheet as pretest (un-timed).
Development:
 Use manipulatives to demonstrate addition/subtraction facts. Teach students to use manipulatives to add/subtract numbers on the handouts
Practice:
 Students' understanding of the topic will be tested by using addition/subtraction flash cards to quiz students and to encourage them to answer quickly. Repeat until students answer fluently and accurately.
Accommodations:
 Pick problems from the test and ask students to demonstrate how to do the problem using manipulatives. Give the timed posttest a second time or more if needed to meet 95% level of accuracy.
Checking For Understanding:
 Grade pretest and post test. Compare scores on pretest and first post test. Give post test until 95% level of accuracy is met.
Closure:
 As a fun activity students will be able to use jelly beans to demonstrate addition/subtraction facts and allow students to eat jellybeans when finished.
Evaluation:
  Compare pretest and post test. If multiple post tests are administered, compare post tests.
