Goals: | For students to practice positive behaviors in their family and to understand the responsibilities of social, physical and emotional needs in any relantionship. |
Objectives: | Students will 1. Brainstorm the factors that help a healthy family relationship. 2. Write an essay what they feel the role is of each family member and tell why. 3. Draw each family member living at home and list their name and role. 4. Draw how to show respect for yourself and for others. 5. Discuss and write what self control and self discipline means. 6. Role play with your cooperative groups how to show self control and self discipline. 7. Write a letter expressing their feelings to parents, siblings, friends and teachers with respect. |
Materials: | Chalkboard, chalk, filler paper, pencil, drawing paper, crayons |
Introduction: | Read Aloud a story about a Family that shares different responbilities. |
Development: | *Discussion on family roles, self control, self discipline and communicaiton with family members. *Brainstorm how to show good character. *Create an outline on self control and self discipline. |
Practice: | Cooperative Groups will be given the task to *review vocabulary terms and brainstorm key concepts. *draw each family member and explain the importance of member. *role play how to show self control and self discipline. *write a letter to their teacher expressing how they feel about being in 4th grade, summer vacation and their attitude toward school. |
Accommodations: | Students assignments will be shorten and simplfy. Teacher will give more time to complete and break the task to simple practice. A Peer Tutor will assist with assignments. Teacher will repeat directions and closely monitor the student. |
Checking For Understanding: | Essay on Family Relationships. A Drawing how to show respect. Vocabulary quiz on key words. |
Closure: | At the end of the unit students will put together a portfolio of all their assignments. |
