 To compare and contrast the lead stories of both the "Austin American Statesman" and the "Thorndale Champion".
Content:
 Students will be required to detail the differences in the subject matter of small town news compared to big city news.
Goals:
 To determine the insignificance of the major small town news as compared to the pressing big city news.
Objectives:
 For the students to realize what they may deem important in their small town newspaper is somewhat trivial to a more global outlook.
Materials:
 Clippings of the lead story from both the "Austin American Statesman" and the "Thorndale Champion".
Introduction:
 Start with the handing out of the lead stories in both papers and telling students that they are to, by the end of the lesson, have compared/contrasted both of these stories.
Development:
 Discussion of differences in stories.
Practice:
 Each student will come up with five differences and five similarities and write them on a sheet of paper.
Accommodations:
 None.
Checking For Understanding:
 Read aloud and discuss some of the students' paragraphs.
Closure:
 Students turn in what they have written for a grade.
