Goals:
 With the use of strong verbs, interesting adjectives, and precise nouns students will create and write their own three stanza What if... poems.
Objectives:
 Each Student will refer to the 6 traits of writing to create their own imaginative 3 stanza poem concentrating on word choice.
Materials:
 What if.. book By Regina Williams, 6 trait stick notes, writing journals, juicy word hand outs, thesaures, dictionary
Introduction:
 Talk and share with partner what the relationship between a pebble and a rock is and then compare to adjectives and vivid adjectives. Site examples and share Read story: What if.. stopping to examin word choices'
Development:
 Share model poems by othere authors and student examples.
Practice:
 In groups of three students play a short What if game. ( thinking and pre-writing) Practice, model how to complete the stanza planning sheet on the overhead projecter.
Accommodations:
  use an extra support planning sheet- this gives more ques to the procedure.
Checking For Understanding:
 "Student editors" review poems for conventions, make comments, and suggestions before teacher review.
Closure:
 Publish final copies with illustations in the background. Post on buletin board and submit to WOW.
Evaluation:
 Rubric following the idea development and word choice.
