Above Level students,in addition to completing the graphic organizer will need to write four sentences; each giving a cause and effect. Teacher will work one on one with ESL students and students who are working below grade level. Above Level students can also choose to complete either of these activities if they complete their work early: Give a Sports Report: Group Activity- Sports commentators on TV not only describe effects(who won and who lost), but also causes (why the game turned out the way it did). Discuss recent sporting events in your school or in professional sports with your group. Then present a sports report for your class in which you describe the causes and effects of some recent sports events. Writing a Problem Solution Essay: Individual Activity- Think of a problem you would like to solve in your school, the community, or the world. Try to figure out the cause or causes of the problem and then write an essay describing a possible solution.

Students will complete the graphic organizer that is in their practice books and the teacher will check their answers for comprehension. In addition, the discussion from the partner activity would also provide the teacher with feedback on whether or not students understood the concept
