Goals: | The students will have a more complex understanding of the Holocaust and be able to answer, with insight and intelligence, the questions: "What is the Holocaust?" and "Why is it important to study?". |
Objectives: | The students will - identify what they already know and what they want to know about the Holocaust. - read an allegory of the Holocaust, answer questions for comprehension and literary analysis, and relate the theme and ideas to previous knowledge. - see a presentation illuminating many facets of the Holocaust and complete comprehension questions to assess understanding. - be introduced to the unit-long project and its requirements. - read a poem introducing the Ghetto during WWII; a subject of the novel. - discuss and identify literary elements found within the poem. |

View Power Point Presentation noting that answers to the note cards are to be answered from the presentation. 7. Discuss the main points of the presentation and elements of each of the note cards: What have you seen and learned? 8.
