Goals: | Upon completion of this lesson student should be able to: -define balanced emergency coverage, standby -define resource deployment -define resource allocation, provider care levels ACP, PCP, ACPP, First Responder and Duty Managers. -define resource deployment -demonstrate practical application of aforementioned terms |
Objectives: | To provide the student with a complete understanding of resource deployment and resource allocation. This will allow the student to incorporate teachings into a practical environment through set mapping assisgnments and paper based scenarios. |
Materials: | Mapping Systems Markers Map Books |
Introduction: | Provide students with a large wall map mounted on whiteboard at front of classroom. Provide EMS, Fire and Police units all placed in the centre of the map. Asking students to break into small discussion groups and discuss 2 advantages and 2 disadvantages of deploying vehicle from a central station within a given region. After discussion give students opportunity to decide how their resource deployment would be for the given map. |

Practice: | 1st Level practice Attempt to place resources in best areas to maintain coverage for police, fire and ambulance services. 2nd level practice Taking away 1 or 2 resources make decisions as to the best emergency coverage for that area. In addition utilize the call CODE 8 for documentation of the movement of vehicles. 3rd level practice Assigned sets of calls, police fire and ems - ensuring with practice 1) correct crew is sent to call 2) appropriate emergency coverage is provided and 3) all aspects of call are complete. |
