Content:
 Students will learn about endangered animals using an internet website. Students will learn computer skills including copy, paste, switching between windows, inserting footers/headers, manipulating the document margins, fonts, type sizes, etc.
Goals:
 Students will be able to use the cut and paste method using Word to creat an informational flyer about an endangered animal. Students will be able to toggel between two open programs (the internet and Word) Students will know how to manipulate font types, sizes and colors. Students will know how to insert a header/footer into a document.
Objectives:
 Know and understand some basic functions the Word. Know and understand how to creat a document by cutting and pasteing information. Know and understand hoe to toggel between two open programs.
Materials:
 Use of Word and the internet site www.kidsplanet.org/factsheets/map.html
Introduction:
 The assigment is to create an informational flyer about any endangered animal you choose. You will use an internet website and you must cut and paste information from the website into Word.
Development:
 Your flyer must have at least one picture, at least two main facts about your animal. It must have at least three differnt font types and two or more differnt font colors.It must have a footer that has your name, grade, and teacher. Remember all information must be copied and pasted from the internet. You can not type any information or insert clip art.
Practice:
 . Open a word processing document, add a FOOTER, students type in their name, grade and teacher. 2. Minimize the word document (Or go to another window in the taskbar - Teach Alt-Tab as a shortcut to toggle between windows) 3. Open your browser, go to http://www.kidsplanet.org/factsheets/map.html. Students may choose the endangered animal that they were most interested in. 4. Copy the text of your chosen page to your clipboard (highlight the text, choose Edit, Copy from the menu or use the shortcut "Ctrl-C" or use right click ). 5. Using the toggel (or clicking on the different windows in the task bar), flip back to your word processing document, and PASTE from your clipboard (Edit, Paste from the menu or use the shortcut "Ctrl-V" or right click). 6. Manipulate the text by changing fonts, sizes, document margins, and by deleting empty line returns until your three or four page web site page is on one word processing document page. 7. Repeat steps to add a picture of the animal. 8. After manipulating the document to one page the document willbe checked and possibly printed.
