Content: | -Add-on Story: stories that are introduced by one student, but extended and detailed by the entire class -oral performance of literature: giving life and creativity to a story while reading it aloud |
Goals: | -Students will be able to (SWBAT) introduce and summarize a fictional topic of their choice -SWBAT add logical and sequencial events to a stories when given an introductory paragraph and/or sentence -SWBAT read with fluency and intonation |
Objectives: | -to edit and revies given passage -to perform a fictional piece infront of a small group with expression and creativity |
Materials: | lined paper, pencils, colored pens/markers, rubrics |
Introduction: | Teacher will remind the class of their experience with Add-on stories. Students will brainstorm about the problems that arose with the stories in the past (Did the stories make sense? Did they turn out the way that they'd planned?) Teacher will tell the students that today we will continue doing add-on stories and use strategies to make them even better than before. |
Development: | Teacher will ask a student to name a character, another to name a setting, and another to name a time/season/etc. Then the teacher will have the students construct an introductory sentence using those details. The teacher will pretend that he/she is going to add the next line to the story. Teacher will demonstrate how to chose a sentence on topic and will model how paper will be passed. Then teacher will continue adding with the class until the story is comopleted. Teacher will model performing the story with expression, and class will grade the teacher given the rubric (displayed on board) |
Practice: | Students will sit at a table in a circle and begin their Add-on stories. Stories will be passed around the table to be completed as teacher monitors. |
