Goals:
 1. Students will gain an understanding of the geography of Greece. Students will acknowledge the role of geography in the formation of Greek city-states which ultimately led to a lack of political unification. 2. Students will observe how religious belief systems can unite a country.
Objectives:
 1.Students will re-construct the topographical landmarks of Greece. 2.Students will complete a political and physical land map of Greece. 3.Students will explain how physical features can impact a countries political, social and religious development.
Materials:
 Map of Greece Colored Pencils Playdough
Introduction:
 Students will respond to a What do we know/What do we want to know/what did we learn white board activity. After heightening interest, students will be asked to participate in a variety of activities.
Development:
 1.The teacher will poke holes into a flattened piece of playdough to simulate the topical geography of Greece.
Practice:
 1. Students will be instructed to make mountains and city-states in playdough to better understand the topography of Greece. 2. Students will complete a political worksheet map of Greec
Accommodations:
 Self-regulating hands-on activities of map will incorporate all accomodations. A computer may be used as necessary to complete vocabulary assignment.
Checking For Understanding:
 Completed playdough "masterpice" and explanation completed maps. Recall activity at end of class.
Closure:
 Repeated explanation of "why we needed to know." and collection of completed maps.
Evaluation:
 Completed map Verbal Response Completed vocab.
