Materials:
You will need: •Word 2016. •Either an essay or the example file that I'm using for this lesson.
Introduction:
•Open word 2016. •Open example file. •Reference tab explanation. •Ribbon with Footnote, citation and bibliography section. •Explain it will do most of the work for the user, for example lines, superscript and format.
Development:
1)Hi my name is Jess Nguyen and this is my CBT video on how to get footnotes, citation and bibliography on word 2016. 2)-first you'll need to go to the Reference tab and on the ribbon there is a section labeled footnote, citation and bibliography. Footnote: 3)In my example I have a sentence that needs a footnote. 4)To do so have the cursor in-between sentence and period then ‎click insert footnote. 5)It will automatically give you a footnote line and a superscript in both the sentence and footnote. 6)Now you can add your footnote in the bottom. 7)For me, I have the information of the footnote already here. So I'm just going to copy and paste it to the bottom. 8)Now your footnote is finished. With a super script in the sentences and a superscript at the bottom of the page. 9)If you want to change the layout, format, or use end notes instead you can click on the option icon at the bottom left of footnote. (About 2 mins) Citation: 10) For adding Cites there's a citation and bibliography section that will do it for you. 11)‎Here, I have 4 different examples that need citations and how it should appear once cites are add. 12)First we'll put placeholders in for reminders of which citation is from which. 13)In doing so we have to put the cursor in-between the sentences and period, then click on insert citation. After that click on 'add placeholder'. 14)After the placeholder, we'll put in the details by first hovering over the placeholder number. that should make a box will appear. 15)On the side of that box there's a down arrow. We'll need to click on that and then go into edit source. 16)In this window we will need to fill in the text field with the information of the cites. For example, author, date, city, url and more. 17)Once the details are in, press OK, 18)To be more precise in citing the author's name, use edit . Bibliography: 19)Once the citing is done you can do the bibliography. Go to a new page then click on the bibliography button after that choose bibliography as the built-in. 20)Now ‎everything you did in the information part for the cites is now in bibliography form. 21)And that is how you get footnotes, citation and bibliography in word 2016. 22)‎thank you for listening
Practice:
Adding a footnote on a sentence. Having different styles of citation that needs to be added in the example file. Then making a bibliography after the citation.
Accommodations:
Doing different styles of citations so that they can see it being done more than once.
Checking For Understanding:
Ask if people have any question after each section.
Closure:
Lastly is doing the bibliography, it's really quick and easy because you did most of the work in citation. And now that is how you add footnotes, citation and bibliography in your essay. Is there any questions about how to do them? Thank you for listening.
Evaluation:
Check if they can do each step properly.
