Objectives: | Wire a 2 wire thermostat so that it is functioning and safe within 20 minutes. |
Materials: | Thermostat box, 12 AWG wire, thermostat, electrical staples, pliers, electrical knife. |
Introduction: | Twisting wires together with pliers and install wires into thermostat electrical box. |
Development: | Start stripping wires with knife and then twist wire together and install in electrical box. |
Practice: | Strip 6 wires and install 2 into an electrical box multiple times. Once they are in the box twist the red wires together. Twist a single black wire to the thermostat. Repeat for other black wire and screw thermostat to the electrical box. |
Accommodations: | Provide written instructions with pictures explaining how to do the task. |
Checking For Understanding: | Check with other people in class and check the heater to make sure it turns on. |
Closure: | Installing a two wire thermostat in-front of instructor. |
