Goals:
For each student to be able to do all of the activities by the end of the year.
Objectives:
Students demonstrate the ability to use fingers and hands with control. Students demonstrate the ability to manipulate small objects using fingers and hands.
Materials:
One spin top per student. Assorted buttons for each student. Clothespins and cotton balls for each student. One set of jacks for each pair of students. One set of marbles for each pair of students.
Introduction:
Each activity will make sure that the students are using their fine motor skills.
Development:
I will demonstrate each activity for the class so the students are able to see what is expected of them.
Practice:
Students would practice the activities a few times before the whole class was evaluated.
Accommodations:
If students are unable to perform jumping jacks, they could move their arms in a jumping jack pattern. If fine motor skills are limited, they could tell a partner which button belongs in a certain color, size, or shape pile. Students could use fingers to sort colored cotton balls if they are unable to manipulate a clothespin. Jacks could be played using a larger ball and beanbags to increase success of those limited fine motor skills.
Checking For Understanding:
Peer assessment: Partners will provide feedback regarding the partner's success in performing the skills.
Closure:
Students will put all of the materials back in the proper place and then we will all discuss about the activities.
Evaluation:
Making sure that they students demonstrate competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform varies activities.
