Lesson Plan : Writing: My Favorite Animal

Topic:
 Students will work as a class to complete a story about their favorite animal. Following along with the teacher.
Content:
 Students will work on their spelling, sentance structure, and writing skills all while following the teachers guidence.
Goals:
 To complete a full paragraph, three to four sentances, about an animal of their chosing.Using proper punctuation and at least spelling the spelling words of the week correctly.
Objectives:
 Being able to follow along. Comprehending the appropreiate grammer and including in some of their own ideas.
Materials:
 Document projector, writing journal, pencils, and crayons for illistations.
Introduction:
 Students remember the time we wote a "class paragraph" about the school mascot? Today we wil write your own paragraph about your favorite animal.
Development:
 Teacher will begin with an opening sentance on the document projector. Students should follow along.
Practice:
 The second sentance should include an adjective of their chosing. They will still be following along somewhat, but the stonger students are welcome to write ahead.
Accommodations:
 Students having issues expressing ideas can also draw their animal.
Checking For Understanding:
 Volunteers will be taken to read their paragraphs aloud.
Closure:
 Everyone will be encourage to hang their stories on the storyboard.
Evaluation:
 This will show if the students are grasping some of the sentance structure we have been discussing, measure their spelling word progress and will help with as an introduction to the idea of adjectives.
Teacher Reflections:
 Hopefully all the spelling words will be progressing. This activity will give us a chance to discuss adjectives next week.
