Content:
 - Legislative branch - Judicial branch - Executive branch - Responsibilities of each branch
Goals:
 Students should be able too... - identify the three branches of government - identify the duties of each branch - Interact well as a classroom
Objectives:
 4.2.3 - Identify and explain the major responsibilities of the legislative, executive and judicial branches of state government as written in the Indiana Constitution.
Materials:
 - Whiteboard or chalkboard - Sticky tack - Branches of government color coded - note cards (write important facts and responsibilities of each branch of government)
Introduction:
 Play video, 3 Ring Circus by School House of Rock
Development:
 - Start off by putting the three branches of government on the board using sticky tack - Give an example by grabbing one of the note cards and showing the classroom what needs to be done - Show a correct answer and also show an incorrect answer
Practice:
 - Interact with the class making sure each student is understanding the topic - Ask how and why they got the answer
Accommodations:
 - Allow each student enough time to make a decision under each category - For ESL students, prepare a worksheet in there preferred language making it easier for them - Try to give the easier cards to the struggling students and give the harder cards to the student who could use a challenge
Checking For Understanding:
 Randomly stop the class and state a fact about one of the branches, seeing if the students understand where it might be placed. Be observant as to how the students use their resource. Are they understanding it? Or do they get it?
Closure:
 Explain why this lesson was important and go on by introducing the next topic/subject
Evaluation:
 At the end of the week, have a mini quiz specifically towards the three branches of government. The quiz will include major responsibilities and roles of the branches of government.
