Content:
 Days of the week on a calendar. Sunday-Monday.
Goals:
 Students indepently recite the days of the week in order, participate in singing the days of the week, understand the meaning of weekdays.
Objectives:
 Students are be able to recite the days of the week in order. Able to identify the days of the week on a calendar.
Materials:
 Worksheets, songs, calendar with removable weekdays,markers, crayons, colored pencils, Music CD's.
Introduction:
 Introduce the lesson with an excited and positive attitude, tell the students that they will be learning the days of the week, on the first day of class. Ask the children if they know the days of the week and start a discussion about it.
Development:
 The use of a calendar with the days of the week, that are removable Sing a song to the days of the week, while pointing to the days on the calendar. Ask them about their day, what day it is today and tomorrow, and so forth.
Practice:
 Teach them the days of the week song, practice the song daily.Have a daily morning center at the beginning of the day. Have students sit on rug in front of a large calendar, marked with days of the week. Sing along while pointing out the days. Days will be removable, let students participate in putting the days on the correct spot. Pick a few days throught out the week, to have students work on worksheets that include cutting and pasting, and coloring the days of the week on a calendar.
Accommodations:
 Incorporate the use of sign language for students with hearing impairments, students who work better in groups can partner up, provide visuals and pictures, allow students to be hands on and volunteer in leading the songs and or placements of the weekdays on the calendar. Make the lesson fun and something that students look forward to every morning.
Checking For Understanding:
 Have each student recite the days of the week. Have them point out the days of the week on the calendar. Give them a worksheet test that asks for students to cut and paste the days of the week in order.
Closure:
 End the lesson with questions about the days of the week, or the calendar. Ask them what day it is today, tomorrow, and yesterday. Ask them about their plans for the weekend and remind them that we do not go to school on Saturdays and Sundays.
