Goals:
 Guide the user to first create a pivot table using a sample data set. Users will then be directed to format the pivot table and finally manipulate the pivot table.
Objectives:
 Students will follow along with the demonstration and be able to perform tasks independently within the allotted 45 minutes.
Materials:
 Computer with Excel 2010 installed.
Introduction:
 A Pivot tables is a summarization tool in Microsoft Excel which can point to a large data set and provide a concise table which encapsulates all the data. The table can be easily manipulated to reposition different fields to either rows or columns which essentially ‘pivots’ the data to extrapolate additional conclusions on the data set.

Practice:
 Demonstrate how to create a pivot table using sample data set. Show formatting of pivot tables and field list. Show Introduce slicers. Demonstrate how to create and use pivot charts.
Accommodations:
 Handouts will be provide which highlight the basic steps in cases students are not able to recollect the initial steps.
Checking For Understanding:
 After the demonstration of each new task, questions will be posed to the students revolving around the preceding steps. Example: which manager spent more than their allocated budget using the pivot table
Closure:
 If there is time speak about pivot table integration with Access 2010 and data connections.
Evaluation:
 Students will be tasked with solving problems sets individually. Will use sample data sets to answer questions whose answers can be gleaned from using the concepts outlined in the demonstrations.
