Materials: | "One Seed" song and lyrics; Cesar Chavez picture; Cesar Chavez Facts worksheet; Map of California; Key vocabulary worksheet; Timeline worksheet |
Introduction: | Listen to song, One Seed, by Rosemary Phillips followed by group discussion about its meaning. |
Development: | Students will apply meaning of "One Seed" song to real-life character, Cesar Chavez, whose picture will be displayed. |
Practice: | Students will be given a worksheet outlining facts about Cesar Chavez. |
Accommodations: | Upon completion of previous assignment, they will be asked to share their work with the class and tape their sentences to the picture of Cesar Chavez. |
Checking For Understanding: | Students will be given a short quiz on Cesar Chavez to test for information retention based on class discussion. |
Closure: | Students will be asked to create a timeline on the life of Cesar Chavez as homework. They will be able to use information discussed in class, Chavez facts worksheet, as well as private research. |
