Goals:
 ~students will learn how to work to improve their school, community, or environment ~students will learn the definition of reducing, reusing, and recycling as well as understand the importance of each of them ~students will also learn what item can be reduced, reused, and recycled
Objectives:
 -Students will know the definition of reducing, reusing, and recycling. -Students will understand the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling. -Students will know what items can be reduced, what items can be reused,and what items can be recycled.
Materials:
 -The THREE R's song -Examples of items to: Reduce:pre-packaged one-serving chip container, drinking a glass of water, rather than a can of pop Reuse:hand-me-down clothes, using plastic grocery bags as garbage bags Recycle: soda can, newspaper, plastic bottle, glass bottle
Introduction:
 In this social studies lesson, students will learn how to work to improve their school, community, or environment. Students will learn the definition of reducing, reusing, and recycling as well as understand the importance of each of them. Students will also learn what item can be reduced, reused, and recycled. This lesson give students the opportunity to learn about reducing, reusing, and recycling through music.
Development:
 The children will view the items the teacher has brought in and at the end will be able to identify which item belongs to each R.
Practice:
 ~Teacher walks into classroom drinking a soda and eating chips out of a small one-serving, pre-packaged container, and throws the trash on the floor. ~Students are then asked if they know any ways that they personally can help protect the environment (Brief discussion) ~The song will be played after the discussion.

Checking For Understanding:
 At the end the students will sing the fifth verse of the song and then asked what they have learned.
Closure:
 As a class the whole song will be sang and the children will be asked to write 6 sentences for homework. (2 using each R)
