Goals:
 This activity is to provide an opportunity for students to learn about the historic/cultural aspects of the three geographical regions in North Carolina.
Objectives:
 The learner will assess the impact of geography on the settlement and developing economy of the Carolina colony by using a word processor to create and produce a class assignment.
Materials:
 Textbook, North Carolina Maps, Internet,Word Processor, other related reference materials
Introduction:
 Ask students where they have traveled in North Carolina, then discuss different places. Have students write a paragraph about a place they have visited or an event they have attended even if it is local.
Development:
 The lessons of history can help you think about your own life. The same forces that shaped the past, shapes the world around you. Understanding North Carolina's past will help you gain a clearer understanding of the issues that you and other North Carolinians face today
Practice:
 Sometimes music helps in memorization. In groups students will make up a song or rhythm to help memorize NC's major cities and regions:Raleigh, Durham, Winston-Salem,Charlotte, High Point, Greensboro, Wilmington, Asheville, Coastal Plain, Piedmont, Mountains.
Accommodations:
 Create a Powerpoint using more visuals than words.
Checking For Understanding:
 Students will share their various reports with the class, prompting questions and discussion on the topics.
Closure:
 students will write a short paragraph about a region or place in North Carolina they would like to visit and the reasons why.
Evaluation:
 1.Students will cross the curriculum by using music to memorize cities and regions in North Carolina. 2.Students will use learn research skills and use technology to complete a class assignment. 3.Students will practice public speaking and presentation skills.
