An Interactive exploration of the Rainforest
Temperate/tropical rainforests, forest floor, understory, canopy, emergent layer
The goal of this lesson is to give the children a better understanding of the two types of rainforests, along with learning facts about each layer and the animal and plant life that live in those places.
The objective is to teach the children the names of the four layers and key facts about each. Also, they will learn specific plants and animals that live in each layer. Another objective is for the children to know the difference between temperate and tropical rainforests and where they are located.
The materials include a special PowerPoint presentation that has been put together for this lesson with key points on each of the previously stated topics.
Using my interactive PowerPoint, I will show the children the slides and pictures on each individual topic on the location, two types, the layers, and life in rainforests.
I will lead the children through the presentation, explaining each fact that is given on the slides
There are interactive websites included on this site and I will give the children the opportunity to explore more on this topic by engaging in those activities.
If any child is having trouble with this assignment,I would assign them to a partner.
Checking For Understanding:
Asking questions to the class on these discussed topics would give me feedback, along with the results of the worksheet that was handed out.
I would ask for further questions on this topic and see if there is any other information they would like to learn about on this topic that was not already discussed.
To measure the progress, I would use a rubric in order to evaluate the class on this topic.
