Content:
 The students will have an understanding on what the legislative branch is. There are two houses of Congress within the legislative branch. Students will learn the key elements of Congress as well as both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Students will also be introduced to Congressional Powers and the five different types of committees.
Goals:
 By looking at their notes, books, and worksheets the students should be able to make a poster over the legislative branch.
Objectives:
 Day 3 objectives: To understand the legislative branch. To learn about the 2 houses of Congress (Senate and House of Representatives) To develop an understanding about the congressional powers and types of committees.
Materials:
 books notes writing paper pencils poster board markers drawing paper
Introduction:
 At the beginning of class, the students will review what they learned on day 1 and 2 by looking at a graphic organizer. This will also introduce them to the legislative branch, what they will be taking notes on over today.
Development:
 The students will copy 1 page of notes and color in a picture.
Practice:
 The students will then get in pairs and make their posters over the legislative branch. After they are finished with this they will do a worksheet and crossword puzzle.
Accommodations:
 
Checking For Understanding:
 If a student misses more than 3 out of the 10 questions on the quiz they will have to correct them tomorrow.
Closure:
 The students will present their posters to the rest of the class.
Evaluation:
 The students understood the idea of separation of power and gathered the information over the legislative and judicial branches well, so they should have no problems with today's plan.
