Content:
Preliminary lesson on counting by two's.
Goals:
 To introduce skip counting
Objectives:

Materials:
 paper, pencils
Introduction:
Ask, "Who would like to volunteer to count the class?" Have a student stand up and count the class. Most likely, a student will count by ones to accomplish this task. Then ask the students, "Is there a faster way to count everyone." If students don't come up with it themselves, ask them if counting every other person would help.
Development:
Explain to the class they are going to practice counting by two's up to 100, so that eventually counting large groups of people or objects by two's will be faster than counting by ones.
Practice:
eacher will lead the class in a clapping game starting with '0' and counting to '10' by clapping on every other number and saying the next number. This will get the class warmed up and ready to complete the next task. After the class understands how to count to 10 by two's have each person in the class participate in counting by two's until each student has said a number.
Accommodations:

Checking For Understanding:
When each group has finished, the teacher will go around the room and check their papers.
Closure:
Ask students "Why is it important to know how to skip count?"
Evaluation:
Teacher will go around each group to listen to their counting.
