Objectives: | *Demonstrate evidence of reading comprehension by pulling out key information and applying them to story elements *Analyze, interpret and synthesize information in novel by collecting data to support an end of the unit project |
Materials: | Novels: The Cay and Island of the Blue Dolphin Flip books with 3 sheets of colored paper Teacher flip book as model Back up of smartboard lesson on story elements for review |
Introduction: | Review story elemnets Place story elements on flap of flip book |
Development: | *Add visual plot line to plot while marking the climax, problem parts *Create 4 webs for characters and questions are they round or flat character? *Use smartboard review of story elements as apparent student knowledge is strong or in need of reteaching *Predict possible themes based on themes from past novels read in class and conflict type (How could this be: man vs. man, man vs. nature, man vs self) |
