Materials: | Page 58 of of Math at Hand. Transparency of a Venn Diagram. Overhead Projector |
Introduction: | Tell students "To find common factors of a group of numbers, list all the factors of each number. The factors that appear in all the list are common factors. |
Development: | 1. Explain what factors are and demonstrate on the board. 2. Demonstrate page 58 of Math on Hand. |
Practice: | We will practice in class finding the greatest common factor of 3 and 6, 2 and 8, 5 and 10 using a Venn Diagram. |
Accommodations: | Reduce the number of problems assigned and use peer tutoring. |
Checking For Understanding: | 1. Students will take a quiz on the greatest common factor the following day. 2. Students will complete a homework assignment on greatest common factor. |
Closure: | Ask students the following questions: (True of False) Factors are multiplied? Common means the same? Greatest means the smallest number? |
