Objectives:
 1. Students will be able to identify the factors of a set of numbers. 2. Students will know the definition of the word greatest. 3. Students will know the definition of the word common. 4. Students will be able to determine the greatest common factor of a set of numbers.
Materials:
 Page 58 of of Math at Hand. Transparency of a Venn Diagram. Overhead Projector
Introduction:
 Tell students "To find common factors of a group of numbers, list all the factors of each number. The factors that appear in all the list are common factors.
Development:
 1. Explain what factors are and demonstrate on the board. 2. Demonstrate page 58 of Math on Hand.
Practice:
 We will practice in class finding the greatest common factor of 3 and 6, 2 and 8, 5 and 10 using a Venn Diagram.
Accommodations:
 Reduce the number of problems assigned and use peer tutoring.
Checking For Understanding:
 1. Students will take a quiz on the greatest common factor the following day. 2. Students will complete a homework assignment on greatest common factor.
Closure:
 Ask students the following questions: (True of False) Factors are multiplied? Common means the same? Greatest means the smallest number?
Evaluation:
 Students can complete ten problems with 85% accuracy.
