Introduction:
Adjectives Nouns and Verbs Developed by Ms. Lander http://teacherweb.com/NY/ReadingResources/MsLander/ For this Inquiry based project we will be using the exciting medium of the online newspaper. We have had so much fun learning about adjectives, nouns, and verbs that we are now going to play a game that allows you to work with your friends and have fun at the same time.
Development:
This project will enhance your already broad understanding of the three parts of speech we have been studying. This will also allow you to use the online newspaper, which you will be usng as you go through junior high and high school.
Practice:
Practice has been done in previous lessons.
Accommodations:
For students who have trouble with their sight, the newspapers will be copied and enlarged with bigger font.
Checking For Understanding:
As students are working in teams i will monitor progress and provide assistance when needeed. I will also be providing extra examples and non examples for students with different needs.
Closure:
After the presentations are made by each team we will reflect as a class on the presentations in a positive manner using only positive and constructive language to help our classmates better understand how to clearly articulate their understanding and knowledge.
Evaluation:
You are expected to include ten examples of each of the parts of speech and present it to the class in a way that is fun and entertaining. Any projects that are not completed within the next two ELA class meetings will result in an incomplete grade for the project. Use the rubric that is posted on the back bulletin board to evaluate, as a team, your final project that you will present to the class. This cooperative group grade using the team rubric will be counted once towards an in class project grade and your individual participation will be evaluated by your partners and included in the cooperative section of your progress report that is sent home every two weeks to allow your parents/ guardians to understand the work required in this class and communicate it to them how hard you have worked to increase your understanding of the different parts of speech.
Teacher Reflections:
Is their a way this project could have been more clearly explained or more fun to complete? How did your team do working together and coming to consesus during the various parts of this project. Is their anything, as the teacher, do you think I might do better to enhance your learning experience? If you had a chance to do this project again what might you do differently?
