Content:
 To enable children to summarize Use prefixes with an awareness of the meaning and how they can alter the meaning of the root word.
Goals:
  Students will be able to use techniques in their own summaries throughout the week. Students will be able to see the main points of a text. Students will be able to be aware of the grammatical term pronouns and revise through worksheets.
Objectives:
 Given the time to understand the process of summarization,students will summarize a given text, stating five ain points of the test.
Materials:
 Overhead projector Summary worksheets Listing worksheets
Introduction:
 Teacher will talk about then and now and show students some examples using a web of differences on white board(Brainstorm). Teacher will use an overhead transparency to work together to summarize the passage.
Development:
 The students will find the important parts to the text and write them in a brief format. Use listing worksheets designed by the teacher.
Practice:
 The students and teacher will write the summary on the overhead transparency together. The teacher will then turn off projector and children will do their own summary.
Accommodations:
 Children can participate in the collaborative summary and will write a few words of their own possibly using: First,....Then,....Finally,.... For more challenging assessments of summary work the teacher will ask the children to use dictionaries to look up some of the new text words and write them. Since this is all revision work, pronoun sheets may be given for alternative assessments.
Checking For Understanding:
 Teacher will grade these to check for understanding of concepts. Students will give feedback orally after papers are collected and revisiting the overhead transparency.
Closure:
 The teacher will discuss the process and explain that the students will be doing more practice this week. Practice using 3 words only to express how children feel about attitudes of old. Pronoun and prefixes ...ask Children to see if they can see others on TV or in texts of newspapers etc.
Evaluation:
 Teacher will see if the children remembered the process we used together ...this was a modelling example. The next class will show comprehension of process. Grading of worksheets should help teacher to assess if children know what a pronoun is and its use...as with prefixes.

 Using the evaluations above, the teacher will determine the success of this lesson. Were the students able to comprehend the concepts presented? Did students enjoy this lesson?
