 Prefixes/Suffixes and how to separate them and create new words using them.
Goals:
 The student should be able to utilize a chart of Prefixes and Suffixes to answer questions and build words.
Objectives:
 (2) Reading/Vocabulary Development. Students understand new vocabulary and use it when reading and writing. Students are expected to: (A) determine the meaning of grade-level academic English words derived from Latin, Greek, or other linguistic roots and affixes;
Materials:
 Prefix Skills Worksheet, Suffix Skills Worksheet
Introduction:
 You remember Prefixes and Suffixes from last week. Who can tell me what a Prefix is? Who can tell me what a Suffix is?
Development:
 Give me some examples. Write examples on the board. Reviewed homework to go over the most missed questions.
Practice:
 In groups, separate the prefix and suffix for the words listed.
Accommodations:
 Read instructions orally and read each chart item and questions including answer choices.
Checking For Understanding:
 Matched words in questions to prefix and meaning in chart.
Closure:
 Lets make a sentence using the words from our activity to see how prefixes and suffixes can be used.

Teacher Reflections:
 Students are having troubles with Suffixes. Not knowing the Suffix spelling rules and when to alter the spelling of words.
