Objectives:
 The Student: Writes texts of a length appropriate to address the topic or tell tha. Uses letter-sound knowledge to decode written English and uses a range of cueing systems (e.g., phonics and context clues) to determine pronunciation and meaning. Uses self-correction when subsequent reading indicates an earlier miscue (self-monitoring and self-correcting strategies). Determines the meaning of unknown words using their context. Reads a variety of texts and incorporates new words into oral and written language.

Introduction:
 Teacher asks What is a Tall Tell. Teacher asks: Name a some stories you have read about real heros. Identify some stories with make bekieve heroes. In what stories did larger-than-life heros do something impossible.
Development:
 Teacher tells students : A tall tell is a story that has thses features: A larger than life ,or superhuman main character with a specific job. A problem that is solved in a funny way. Exaggerated details that describe things as greater than they really are. Characters who use everyday languae. Teacher gives students background on Tall Tells.
Practice:
 Guided reading of Johnny Appleseed. Teacher asks students to orally identify the features of a Tall Tell in Johnny Appleseed. Teacher will review vocabulary words.
Accommodations:
 Students will be able to use word processor and spell check. Students will be able to use online dictionary to define words. Students will be able to draw a picture to illustrate Tall Tell and give oral presentation.
Checking For Understanding:
 Teacher will review students version of tall tells chaecking for features of a tall tell. Teacher will check studentts vocabulary for accurate definitions.
Closure:
 Students will share tall tells with class and identify features of a tall tell. Students will share one vocabulary word and the definition.
