Goals:
 Student will have a working knowledge of the history of crime in america and how the UCR work. Student will understand the key words and see how they fit into the criminal justice system.
Objectives:
 Student well provide a brief history of crime in America Student will explain the meaning of due process of law, and identify where due process guarantees can be found in the American legal system. Student will describe the history and nature of the FBI's UCR/NIBRS programs Student will identify the special categories of crime discussed in this chapter, and explain why they are of contemporary significance.
Materials:
 Criminal Justice Today Text book, an introductory text for the 21st century eleventh edition. Powerpoints, handouts, paper and pen.
Introduction:
 Chapter one: Recent events such as Hurrican Katrina (August 29, 2005) and the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 have had a mojor impact on society. How the criminal justice system has in responding to crime associated with these events. Chapter 2: Crime Data and Social Policy a. Data provide a picture of crime in society b. Data are used as a tool to make social policy decisions.
Development:
 How does media coverage have for public opinion on crime? and on criminal justicwe policy making?(small groups)

 Discussion Starter: What does justice mean to you?

 At the end of class have each student write down two thing they learned during the class, and two thing that they are not sure about.
Closure:
 Brief review of the class lesson and then ask them what is Criminal Law? Next class we will cover that subject and see if my answer match your understand of Criminal Law. Have a good day,
