 To give students an understanding of who Harriet Tubman was and the important role she played in American History. To give students an understanding of what the Underground Railroad was and the danger that slaves faced when escaping to freedom
Materials:
 Computer, Smartboard, and Internet
Introduction:
 Begin by asking students to share their knowledge of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad.
Development:
 Continue by showing the students an Internet site about Harriet Tubman and have them copy down important facts that they read about her. Then use the National Geographic site that takes students on a tour of the Underground Railroad letting them decide which course to take.

 Do a quick review with students, asking them to tell me what they learned about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad.
