Goals:
 Comprehension Focus: Noting Details, Compare and Contrast, Making predictions Math: Patterns, The order of things Writing: Letter knowledge
Objectives:
 Students will listen attentively and show understanding. Students will compare and contrast elements within the story. Students will make predictions about what happens in the story. Students will identify first, middle, and last. Students will use known letters to represent written language. Students will participate in shared writing.
Materials:
 Houghton Mifflin - How Zebra got its stripes
Introduction:
 Build vocabulary by asking questions. Show illustrations, discuss the pictures. Ask what they think might happen in the story.
Development:
 Introduce key vocabulary. Read the story. Use a variety of questioning techniques. Have the students chime in.
Practice:
 Students will give patterns that were observed in other stories that we have read.
Accommodations:
 Students will use manipulatives to show a pattern.
Checking For Understanding:
 Student will describe the pattern that they have made with manipualtives or through art.
Closure:
 Students will talk about the various patterns that we have observed and where we found them... Patterns are everywhere!
Evaluation:
 Students were able to show a pattern and describe it through a various techniques.
