Music Composition Lesson Plans

  1. Beethoven's Symphony Number 9- Texture in artworks.
  2. Beginning, Middle and Ending- Students will experience the idea of beginning, middle, and end in a variety of situations including literary and musical.
  3. Classical Composers- This catalogue is a reference to the history of classical music through the biographies of the composers that wrote it.

  6. Composing Music Electronically- Students will be able to compose simple melodies using a computer and a midi keyboard. Students will have an understanding of timesignatures.
  7. Create-a-Composition- . Composing a musical piece will spark in the child a new found enthusiasm for music, and its value in his/her social and effective learning development.
  8. Dynamics (Forte and Piano), Accents- The students will also experience for themselves their own rainstorm with instruments and body movements. Also the students will experience and perform what an accent is.

  13. Recognizing Note Names of the Treble Clef- This unit plan aids in teaching beginning instrumentalists proper note recognition. This unit is based on a staff utilizing a treble clef, but can easily be adapted to any musical clef.
  14. Staff Twister- To learn the names of the lines and spaces.
  15. Take Me Out to the Ball Game- The students will experience the change from a thin to thick texture through the use of body movement and an ostinato pattern.
  16. Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty Ballet­Suite op. 66- The students will understand the concept of Contrasts in different arenas of Art such as poetry, paintings, and music.
