Lesson Plan Title : Daddy's Big Shoes

Age Range: Kindergarten through grade 2 (Primary)

Overview and Purpose: Children love to walk around in daddy's big shoes. In this activity, students use daddy's shoe to create a print that tells about all the qualities they love in their dad.

Objective: The student will be able to draw a picture about why his dad has such big shoes to fill (what makes dad special).

Resources:

Tag board

Markers/crayons/colored pencils

Activities:

Give each student a piece of tag board and for homework have them trace one of their dad's shoes. During class explain the phrase "having big shoes to fill" and talk about what makes a dad special. Have each student decorate their shoe with the qualities that make their dad special to them. Laminate the shoes and have the students give them to their dad for Father's Day.

Wrap Up:

Some students may have to use an uncle's or big brother's shoe. If this applies to your class, talk about it with the children (without naming names) and use it as an example of having "big shoes to fill".
