Lesson Plan Title : Dad's Clothes Relay

Age Range: Kindergarten through grade 2 (Primary)

Overview and Purpose: This relay race is a good way to get students up and moving around. They have to dress like dad and then race to complete some of dad's chores and tasks.

Objective: The student will be able to dress in typical dad's clothes and then race to complete various chores and tasks before returning the clothes to the suitcase and tagging the next student.

Resources:

One set of the following for each team:

Various men's items (shorts, socks, sneakers, dress shirt, tie, straw hat, sunglasses, work gloves)

Plastic lawnmower

Screwdriver and screws set in a board (or plastic set)

Tricycle course to represent driving to work

Any other jobs or tasks you would like (i.e. washing dishes or changing the baby)

Activities:

Set up the course ahead of time. Divide the class into teams. One student from each team has to put on the clothes, complete the course, take the clothes back off, and tag the next player. The first team to finish is the winner.

Wrap Up:

This race is meant to get students excited and moving; however, remind them to be positive and show good sportsmanship.
