Lesson Plan Title : Vocabulary Eggs
Age Range: Grade 3 through grade 5 (Elementary)
Overview and Purpose: Vocabulary review is egg-citing with this Easter activity. Students try to match their vocabulary words and definitions while collecting eggs for their team.
Objective: The student will be able to match two halves of an egg together. One half should have a vocabulary word on it and the other half should have the definition.
Resources:
Plastic Easter eggs
Activities:
Write a definition of one of your vocabulary words on one half of a plastic Easter egg and the correct spelling on the other half. Put each half in a different basket. Have the students take turns drawing from either basket and telling you either the definition or vocabulary word. If they are correct, have them find the matching half to their egg, which their team gets to keep. If they are wrong, they have to put their half of the egg back in the proper basket. The team with the most eggs at the end wins the game.
Wrap Up:
This makes a great center review game. It can also be adapted for students who need more help. They can be offered two or three halves to choose from when trying to decide on the answer.
