Lesson Plan Title : Using Our Sense of Hearing

Age Range: Kindergarten through Grade 2 (Early Elementary)

Overview and Purpose: In this lesson, students cannot see so they must use their sense of hearing to play the game.

Objective: The student will be able to use their hearing to play a game of Four Corners.

Resources:

Blindfold

Activities:

In this activity, one student is blindfolded and the other students must choose a corner of the room and walk quietly there. The person with their eyes covered picks a corner. Everyone in that corner is out. Play continues until only one person is left. That person then gets to be blindfolded.

Encourage the student who is blindfolded to listen closely for any noise. With his eyes blindfolded, he should be able to hear quite a bit. Play the game until each student has had a turn.

Wrap Up:

Have students draw a picture about what it was like trying to listen for the students. Were the students quiet when they were walking to the corners or was it easy to hear them?
