Lesson Plan Title : Pastel Easter Eggs

Age Range: Grade 3 through grade 5 (Elementary)

Overview and Purpose: Students create a pastel Easter egg using black construction paper, clear glue, and chalk. The glue creates a barrier between the two different colors of chalk and leaves a black line around each section, highlighting it.

Objective: The student will be able to create a pastel Easter egg on black construction paper using glue and chalk.

Resources:

Black construction paper

Clear glue

Chalk

Pencils

Spray sealant

Activities:

Give each student a piece of black construction paper and have them draw an Easter egg in pencil. When they have finished, have them trace their Easter egg in glue. Set the papers aside and let the glue dry completely. After it is dry, have the students color their Easter eggs using the chalk. The clear glue will create a barrier and a black line around each section of the Easter egg. Spray each Easter egg with sealant after it is finished.

Wrap Up:

Students can use this technique to create other Easter pictures. They can draw an Easter egg hunt, the Easter Bunny, or an Easter bonnet.
