Objective: The student will be able to write a persuasive piece about black cats being bad luck.

Resources:

Information on the belief that black cats are bad luck

Activities:

Discuss the information you have about the belief that black cats are bad luck. After the discussion have students choose whether they want to write a persuasive piece about black cats being bad luck or not being bad luck. Encourage them to use as many facts as possible in their paper. After everyone is finished allow time for students to share their papers if they want to.

Wrap Up:

This assignment could be extended so students have time to do further research on their own. More advanced students could write a paper including both beliefs and comparing the strengths and weaknesses of the two.
