This poll really only has one response. A vast majority of teachers agree that Friday is their favourite day of the week. All the other days combined didn't even come close to matching Friday's popularity. The choice of Friday shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. Friday is almost everyone's favourite day. From office workers to students, Friday marks the beginning of the weekend and some much deserved time off.

The only people who wouldn't usually pick Friday as their favourite day are those who work weekends. If your work week runs from Tuesday to Sunday, and your days off are Monday and Tuesday then Friday doesn't represent anything special. Sunday, on the other hand, is the best day because it is the end of your work week.

The one surprising result of this poll is that Monday didn't receive the lowest number of votes. The first day of any work week is normally dreaded. It is so universally acknowledged as a bad day that there have been songs written about Monday. Yet more teachers listed Monday as their favourite day than Tuesday. What's wrong with Tuesday? It is simply too close to Monday and the beginning of the week to garner any fans. Maybe Monday has the advantage of representing a fresh start to the week. Tuesday is just there. It doesn't mean anything special, it doesn't represent anything, it just is. Poor Tuesday has no identity and even fewer fans.

The best thing about this poll is that is proves that students and teachers aren't that far apart in ideals and values. Although nobody has polled student responses to the same question, it is a pretty fair bet that Friday is their favourite day too. Saturday and Sunday represent sleeping in and all day video games. Sometimes there is a special family event to look forward to. Not that many students, especially teenagers, are that keen to spend time at their aunt's birthday party, but there is normally cake on offer so it's not all bad.

The next time you are in the classroom on a Friday and you are thinking you can't wait for this day to be over, take a moment and look at the faces of all your students. They are probably thinking the same thing.
