Lesson Planning Blocks are a great way to prepare lesson plans. Especially if you are a visual person. The really make teacher observations a lot less stressful. It's like having a visual checklist.
The concept is simple. Each block represents a block of time ranging from 5 to 60 minutes. In each block you write what you will be doing during that block of time of your lesson. Let's say you will be teaching a 45 minute lesson. You might planning to do a 5 minute review of the previous lesson; print the 5 minute block. In that block, write the important points of the review. Then you plan to introduce a new topic for 20 minutes, allow 15 minutes for independent practice, and 5 minutes for closure. In all, you would print out 2 - 5 minute blocks, a 15 minute block, and a 20 minute block. Get the idea?
We provide a variety of colors. This will allow you to color code it once you get the hang of it. For instance, we use lime green for all closure activities and pink for all of our anticipatory sets.
