Lesson Plan Title : One Act Play

Age Range: Grade 6 through Grade 8 (Middle School Level)

Overview and Purpose : Creative juices will flow as students bring their vocabulary words to life!

Objective: The student will be able to work with a group to act out a short play using vocabulary words.

Resources:

Props relating to the vocabulary words

Activities:

Divide the class into trios. Give them time to develop a storyline that uses the vocabulary words. Encourage them to just outline the story and ad lib as they go along. Have each group act out their story for the class using as many of the vocabulary words as possible.

Closure:

You can continue the lesson the next day by having the students present a puppet show. Have the students make the characters from paper and cutting them out and gluing them onto popsicle sticks. The puppets can be as elaborate (fabric scraps, yarn, etc.), or as simple as you like. Record the shows on video and let the students watch them!
