Lesson Plan Title : Bendaroo Spelling

Age Range: Kindergarten through Grade 2 (Early Elementary or Primary Level)

Overview and Purpose : Bendaroo's are almost like a pipe cleaner, but waxy and sticky. This would be a good lesson for the beginning of the year.

Objective: The student will be able to use Bendaroos to spell out their first and last names.

Resources:

Bendaroos

Paper

Activities:

Each student will be able to make their name by placing Bendaroos on a piece of paper. If needed, the student's name can be pre-written on the paper so he only has to shape the Bendaroos on top of the letters. The papers can be displayed in the classroom to help students learn how to spell each other's names.

Closure:

If there are enough Bendaroo's left, have each child make something fun (i.e. a flower, car, baseball, etc.) that represents their personality and place that on the paper underneath his or her name.

Other English Lesson Areas: Phonics | Poetry | Literature | Reading | Writing |
