Lesson Plan Title : Tracking Mother's Tree

Age Range: Grade 9 through grade 12 (High School)

Overview and Purpose: This creative activity involves some research on the part of the students. They have to find out about the women on their mother's side of the family tree and create a display representing their accomplishments.

Objective: The student will be able to create a family tree tracking just their mother's side of the family.

Resources:

None needed - All student provided

Activities:

Have your students create a family tree tracking just their mother's side of the family. They should have one accomplishment or fact listed about every woman. Encourage them to be creative in the way the information is displayed. Ideas could include: putting each woman's information on a flower or creating a decoration for each woman depending on the accomplishment.

Wrap Up:

Create a special showing of the trees and invite the moms in to see them. Have the students include photos or written pieces about special memories they have of their moms.
