Lesson Plan Title : President Bingo

Age Range: Grade 3 through Grade 5 (Elementary)

Overview and Purpose: This lesson is great to use as a review game of the presidents. Students have to match the facts you name to the correct president.

Objective: The student will be able to recognize four facts about four presidents.

Resources:

Blank bingo worksheet (Four columns of four rows)

Worksheet with small squares printed on it.

Activities:

Give the students a choice of five presidents and ask them to write the names of four of them on the blank squares. Collect the papers. Have the students brainstorm five facts about those five presidents. Pass out the bingo sheet and ask students to write one fact in each square. (There will be more facts than there are squares.) Collect the papers.

Pass both sets of papers out randomly. Have the students cut apart the squares. Call out the events that are on the board in any order. If a student has that event on his board and the correct president square he can cover the fact. The first student to cover four in a row wins.

Wrap Up:

Discuss the election process and presidential duties. If elected, what's the first thing they would do as President of the United States? What makes a good president? Have students brainstorm criteria for the "perfect president". Use this information to create a job description and newspaper article to advertise the presidency.
