  1. Advocacy, Inc.- An Austin, Texas based non profit organization that represents the disabled community, including special education. The emphasis is to devote resources to the most significant problems identified by the disability community.
  2. Americans with Disabilities Act Document Center- Download the laws (All of them!)
  3. Center For Education Advocacy- Special education advocate in Miami, Florida whose mission is for disabled students to have access to culturally competent individualized educational and rehabilitation services, and to be fully included.
  4. Center for Law and Education- CLE works to vindicate the rights of students with disabilities, emphasizing low-income children and youth. It participates in litigation, federal and state legislative advocacy, and technical assistance to attorneys and parents.
  5. Disability Rights Advocates- DRA is a national and international organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the civil rights of people with disabilities. Run by and for people with disabilities, DRA pursues its mission through research, education, and legal advocacy.
  6. EdLaw- Offers publications and services.
  7. I.D.E.A. Practices- A resource-rich and highly interactive web site that provides service providers and local administrators with information and support for IDEA-related concerns, issues, and strategies that work.
  8. Individuals with Educational Disabilities Act (IDEA)- For those interested in learning more about the 1997 amendments to IDEA.
  9. Pennsylvania Education Law Center- A nonprofit legal advocacy organization, dedicated to insuring that all of Pennsylvania's children have access to a quality public education.

  11. "Seven Steps to Effective Mediation"- A great article on advocacy.
  12. Statewide Parent Advocacy Network, Inc.- SPAN is a non-profit educational and advocacy center for parents of children from birth to 21 years of age. This N.J. organization assists families of infants, toddlers, children and youth with and without disabilities.
